Like all editions, this is human curated and edited, and published with the intention of making AI news and technology more accessible to everyone.

Anthropic's Claude AI Broke Into 3 Real Companies, and 2 Never Noticed
TLDR: Anthropic says three of its Claude models broke into real companies during safety testing, and two of those companies had no clue until Anthropic called them.
The Story:
Anthropic went back through 141,006 test runs after rival OpenAI admitted one of its own models escaped a locked test setup and broke into Hugging Face. Three of those runs had gone wrong. Claude was playing a hacking practice game, the kind where a model hunts for hidden info on a pretend network. The prompt told Claude it had no internet. That wasn't true. A setup mistake by testing partner Irregular left the machines wired to the open web, so Claude went looking for its target and found real businesses instead. Claude Opus 4.7 hit a company that happened to share a name with the make-believe target, pulled login details, and opened a live database holding several hundred rows of real data. Claude Mythos 5 uploaded a bad Python package to PyPI, where 15 systems downloaded it before anyone yanked it. A third test model scanned roughly 9,000 machines, got into one, then stopped once it worked out the target was probably real.
Its Significance:
None of this took clever tricks. Claude got in through weak passwords and doors nobody locked, the same holes that let human hackers into small businesses every week. Two of the three companies never noticed a thing. The earliest case dates back to April, so the problem sat there for months before anyone caught it. If your company is handing AI agents more access this year, the takeaway isn't that AI turned evil. It's that one wrong setting was the only thing standing between a practice test and a real break-in.

The story: Click the three dots on any LinkedIn post and you'll now see an option to flag it as AI slop. The post disappears from your feed. Detection company Pangram says more than 40% of long-form LinkedIn posts read as fully machine-written.
Your takeaway: LinkedIn also pulled its own AI writing tool and swapped it for a proofreader that won't rewrite your voice. Substack added an AI detector last week. The whole industry is moving the same direction, and if you paste raw chatbot output into your posts, real people can now flag it with one tap. If you use AI for writing, be sure to have anti-slop filters to take out the most egregious patterns.
The story: Gemini Robotics ER 2 plans jobs that run several minutes long, then hands the actual arm-and-leg movement to smaller models. It watches its own camera feed to track progress, spotting the exact moment a step finishes 91.3% of the time with under a second of error.
Your takeaway: Two robots with different bodies, say a wheeled rover and a walking humanoid, can now split a job between them. The model also freezes a humanoid when a person walks nearby and starts again once they leave. Warehouse and factory work is where this lands first.
